Oceania • Islands
Oceania
77 islands across more than a third of the globe, from New Guinea out to Rapa Nui (Easter Island). An atoll counts as one place, and many need real zooming.
New Guinea to Fiji
The big islands of the southwest Pacific: New Guinea, the largest, then chains running southeast through the Solomons and Vanuatu to New Caledonia and Fiji.
The Scattered Atolls
Small islands and atolls across the western Pacific, most of them north of the equator: the Marianas, with Guam, the Carolines, the Marshalls, and Kiribati.
Polynesia
Islands spread east across the South Pacific, from Samoa and Tonga through the Cook Islands and Tahiti to Pitcairn Island and Rapa Nui (Easter Island), the farthest of all.
Hawaii
The Hawaiian Islands, in a chain running northwest from Hawaiʻi (Big Island) out to Midway Atoll at its far end.
New Zealand and the Tasman
New Zealand's North, South, and Stewart Islands, Chatham Island out to the east, and across the Tasman Sea, Tasmania, Norfolk Island, and Lord Howe Island.
Where You'll Start
You'll start with the anchors, a few places to hang the rest on: New Guinea, North Island, South Island, Tasmania, and Hawaiʻi (Big Island). Then chapter by chapter, or the whole deck at random.
