Britain Overseas
19 places the United Kingdom holds beyond its own shores, or that belong to its Crown. Most are small islands spread across the Atlantic, so here they are region by region.
The Crown Dependencies
Jersey and Guernsey, the Channel Islands, off the coast of France, and the Isle of Man, in the Irish Sea between Britain and Ireland.
The Mediterranean
Gibraltar, on the tip of Spain at the mouth of the Mediterranean, and two bases on the south coast of Cyprus: Akrotiri in the west and Dhekelia in the east.
The Caribbean and Bermuda
Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands and Montserrat, where the Leewards begin, the Cayman Islands, south of Cuba, the Turks and Caicos, at the end of the Bahamas, and Bermuda, alone far to the north.
The South Atlantic
Down the middle of the ocean, Ascension, Saint Helena, and Tristan da Cunha. Off South America, the Falkland Islands (Malvinas), then South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, out toward Antarctica.
Pitcairn
The Pitcairn Islands, four specks in the South Pacific, far from anywhere, about halfway between New Zealand and South America.
Where You'll Start
You'll start with the anchors, a few places to hang the rest on: the Falkland Islands (Malvinas), the Isle of Man, and Gibraltar. Then chapter by chapter, or the whole deck at random.
